There is a multitude of diet techniques available on and offline. Aside from the typical “after 6 pm” (no food intake after dinner), we’ve also heard about the “Keto” diet.
I’ve heard many good things about this option. I have a few friends who are on this diet plan, and the results are visible. However, a Netizen shared his thoughts about Keto Diet on Facebook.
Apparently, as per Angelo De Guzman, Keto diet may be effective BUT, one must know the repercussions.

He narrated that he recently had a conversation with a colleague who has a diabetic patient. According to the story, the diabetic patient “stopped medications” and “shifted to Keto diet” for a year.
Conversely, after blood tests, the results were alarming.

Breaking my silence on the famous KETO DIET.
We just had a discussion with a colleague about her diabetic patient who stopped his medications, and for 1 year shifted to a KETO DIET. His current sugars are still high, but not as high as before. He lost a lot of weight & is very happy about it. But this is where the benefits stopped.
His Total Cholesterol more than DOUBLED to 477 (Normal: <200), LDL almost doubled to 316 (Normal: <175), and Triglyceride TRIPLED to 465 (Normal: <150). This is alarming!!!
Please guys, if we cannot stop you from doing this unhealthy diet, BE RESPONSIBLE and do STRICT MONITORING OF YOUR LIPID PROFILE (blood cholesterols & fats) EVERY 3 MONTHS. If wala kayong balak magmonitor, wag na kayo mag Keto Diet.
Otherwise, you are setting yourself up for build-up of cholesterol plaques in your arteries, causing blockages in your heart (HEART ATTACK) or brain (STROKE). Also, the high levels of fats in your blood lead to FATTY LIVER, which can lead to LIVER CIRRHOSIS (liver failure).
“KETO DIET” is a shortcut for the process of KETOGENESIS. This is the production (genesis) of KETONE BODIES. When our bodies break down fats as a source of energy, in the process called FATTY ACID OXIDATION, we produce Ketone Bodies as by-products.
But, Fatty Acid Oxidation was NEVER MADE TO BE A PRIMARY SOURCE OF ENERGY for the body. This only occurs in states such as STARVATION, when the body has already consumed all sources of Carbohydrates (the REAL primary source of energy for the body).
Furthermore, Ketone Bodies are ACIDIC to the blood. And that is why people on Keto Diet are advised to drink a lot of water.
There are 3 Ketone Bodies: Acetone, Acetoacetate & Beta-Hydroxybutyrate. So yes, eventually your breath may smell like Acetone, if your ketone bodies accumulate to above normal levels.
Is the weight loss worth all these health risks? Payat ka nga pero at risk for sudden cardiac death? Think about it please.

Losing weight is not an issue if you have the right mindset. Most often than not, the real problem isn’t the “diet plan” it’s the discipline to eat right and discipline to get up and exercise.
