Being a parent isn’t a walk in the park. Your patience and faith in life would be put to test. You would develop skills and you would do things you haven’t done in your life. And if you got skills, trust me, it would be honed as you go along.
Such is this newbie mom I came across online. Her name is Leone Cailao. Leone, as seen on her Facebook account, is a mom to a cute boy, a loving wife, and she also loves sewing. In fact, she loves to turn old dresses into new styles.
She believes that altering old dresses could be stunning once again. Her principle is that instead of buying, why not re-live the old dresses. For Leone, sewing or making over old dresses is satisfying. It fills her “creative tank.”
One time, she was looking for a pair of pants to match her baby’s polo. And because Leone knows how to sew, she decided to look for old stuff. Luckily, Leone saw her husband’s old “Dockers” pants.
And, instead of giving it away, she used it to make a pair of pants for his baby!
“Ang sirang Dockers pants ni daddy nya, ginawang pants for baby 😁 may pang partner lang sa long sleeve,” Leone narrates on her caption.
Tada! This is the finished product!
According to Leone, she also made those bowties.
The bowties were made of used patches.
Leone ended her caption with such an inspiring message: “Basta sa baby, kahit walang bago si Mommy.” (It’s okay not to have new clothes, as long as my baby has new ones).
Truly, when you become a parent, you become selfless. You think of your children’s welfare more than anything.
Keep up the good work, Mommy Leone! We’re looking forward to seeing new dress makeovers!
